 Free telephone consultation

  • Up to 15 minutes' discussion of your needs, and brief suggestions for problem-solving and free help available
  • No obligation for further contact

 Preparation for Breastfeeding

  • Individualised preparation during the last 6-8 weeks of pregnancy
  • In the comfort of your own home, or at my home if you prefer
  • Partners or significant others encouraged to join in
  • Joint discussion:
    • previous feeding experience, to discover what happened and possible reasons for problems
    • birth expectations and individual needs
    • how breastfeeding works, with video/DVD and various teaching aids
    • expressing milk by hand or pump (especially if complications are expected)
    • induced lactation (eg for adopted baby) or relactation
    • continuing breastfeeding after return to work
    • baby-led weaning to solid food
    • bottle-feeding with expressed milk or formula (if desired)
  • Suggestions for birth and the first few hours, to ensure feeding gets going well
  • Written information and weblinks for future reference
  • Free email follow-up

 Cost: £70 for a 2-hour session, further follow-up session if desired at £50, plus travel @50p/mile

 Home consultation in a 20-mile radius of Aldershot

  • Early check within the first 2-3 days, to ensure all goes well, as a follow-up on Preparation for Breastfeeding session (hospital visits by arrangement)
  • Help with finding comfortable positions for feeding
  • Problem-solving - sore nipples, attachment issues, slow weight gain, mastitis etc
  • Referral to others if necessary (eg for tongue-tie treatment or cranial osteopathy)
  • Help with expressing milk
  • Support for stopping breastfeeding, if needed or desired
  • Relactation or induced lactation, and use of feeding aids
  • Help with bottle-feeding, if needed or desired
  • Visits to my home if out of area
  • Free telephone and email follow-up until problems resolved

 Cost: £70 for a 2-hour session (£50 if preparation session has been taken), with further follow-up session if desired at £50, plus travel @ 50p/mile round trip

 Pre-arranged telephone consultation

At a mutually convenient time for discussion on any matter, eg:

  • previous feeding experience, to discover what happened and possible reasons for problems
  • birth expectations and individual needs
  • how breastfeeding works
  • suggestions for labour, birth and the first few hours, to ensure feeding gets going well
  • problem-solving for sore nipples, attachment difficulties, mastitis etc
  • expressing milk by hand or pump
  • continuing breastfeeding after return to work
  • baby-led weaning to solid food
  • bottle-feeding with expressed milk or formula
  • coming to terms with unresolved breastfeeding problems
  • free email follow-up

 Cost: 50p/minute, with the first 15 minutes free; clients to bear the cost of the call.

Payment to be made by cash or cheque at the time of consultation; receipts will be given
